Major Tate has been Dromoted to ♦he rank of Lieut.-Colonel comvrianding the sth Wellington Rifle Volunteers. Hts Honor District Judge Haselden arrived in Masterton yesterday afternoon. The District Court will open this morning. Very sincere regret will be felt by the many friends of the Rev. Mother Bridget, one of the founders of St. Bride's Convent, Masterton, at the fact that she had to enter a private hospital at Auckland, and there have her leg amputated below the knee. The Rev. Mother only recently* went North to-see if the change would health.
