Mr Clark, Canadian Government Agent, speaking at the Empire League demonstration, said he did not believe that Germany was unfriendly to England, but Germany had had marvellous success.
With characteristic patience, said Mr Clarke, Germany made preparations, then sprang upon Denmark, then Austria, then France. And her people had been irade drunk by a class among them. She has at this moment an unsatisfied ambition. "If we could believe," concluded the speaker, "that Germany, at the head of the nations could do better for the world, and would stand for the oppressed against the oppressor, he would bow to the will of God. But he did not believe that she could do for the nations what Britain had done."
