WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Wellington, report on their fortnightly sale as follows:—There was a full attendance of buyers, to whom we submitted a representative catalogue of wools, sheepskins, hides,etc. Competition all round was very animated and prices were in favour of sellers. In sympathy with the advance in the Home markets for wool, prices since last sale are higher by Jd to id, clean, light fleece and lambs wool being in demand. We quote: Wool —Clean crossbred, 6|d to ', 7Jd; crossbred, inferior and seedy, |4d to s|d; lambs, good, 6Jd to 7£d, medium and inferior, 4£d to 6d; crutchings, 3,? dto s|d; locks and pieces, 2d to 3Jd. Sheepskins.— Fine crossbred, 6Jd to 7Jd; coarse and medium crossbred, sfd to 6Jd; lambskins, 6£d to 7£d, dead and faulty skins?, 3d to sd; good pelts, 3£d to 4£d-.damaged pelts. l£d to 3d; salted and damp skins, sheep, 2s 7d to 4s 7d, lamb, 2s Id to 4s. Hides. —Ox, no heavy offered; ox, light, 51dtofiJd; cow, from sJcl to s|d; bull hides, 4d to 4|d: calf, sound, ; 6|d to B£d, damaged, 2d to 4|d. I Horsehair.—To Is 4d per lb. Tallow. | —ln tins from 18s 9d to 20s 6d per i cwt. Messrs Levin and Company, Limi- ! ted, Wellington, 'report as follows, 'regarding Friday's sale: —We held our fortnightly sale to-day, when we offered 40 baits wool, 2,000 skins, 650ihides and calfskins and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was very spirited for everything offering. Wool.—Crutchings are now coming forward freely and meet with strong demand, as high as 5Jd has been paid for best quality. We quote: Crossbred fleece, 5d to G£d; lambs, 5d to 7d; superior crutchings, 5d to s£d; medium crutching, 4d to 4|d; inferior crutchings, 3d to 4d; pieces and bellies, 2d to 4d; locks, ij&d to 3d. Skius.—Market firm at Jd advance. We quote: Fine crossbred, 6d to 7£d; crossbreds, 5d to 6|d; dead skins, 3d tos£d; dead hoggets, s|d; -green skins, 3s to 4s 6d; lamb skins, 3s to 3s 8d; lamb pelts, Is 6d to 2s Id. Tallow. —Finn. Parcels in shipping order £24. Tins .£lB to £2O 10s. Rough fat £lO to £ls. Horsehair. —ls to Is 4d pa* lb. Horns.—ss to 16s per hundred. Cowtnils.—ls 3d to Is lOd per dozen. Hides.—We again biought forward a good catalogue, which met'wilh excellent competition at prices Jd better than last sale. We quote: Ox hides, heavy. 7d to 7yd, medium, Gel to 7d. light, sdto6£d; cow hides, 5d to s|d; cut and slippy hides, 2d to sd; stag hides, 2£d to 4|d; bull hides, 2d to 4|d; calf, best, 7|d to Bgd, medium) 5a to 7d. c-ut and slippy, 3d to sd.
