FOOTBALL. Out Tenui correspondent writes: —The n4ne-aside match between Whareama and Mungapakeha was played at Tenui on Saturday afternoon last, in the presence of a large number of spectators, including several ladies. A number ot Whareama's picked team failed to put in an appearance, consequently the opposing team had a easy win. The game proved to be a fast one, and Whareama with a few selected recruits put up a strong defence against heavy odds. Mangapakeha won by 20 points to 3. For the winners Schofield Bros. (3) and Collerton Bros. (3) scored the tries, Sid Schofield converting one. For the losers a try was scored from a fine forwaid rush by B. Stillborn, Possum failing at the kick at goal. In the absence of Mr Chfis. Richardson, who owing to Council business arrived late, Mr Jack O'Kane, of Whakataki, was referee, and gave entire satisfaction to all. The teams were afterwards the guests of Mr Page, of Tenui Hotel, at a dinner.
