UNIVERSAL MILITARY TRAINING.
MR M'NAB'S VISIT. The meeting convened by the local Secretary of the National Defence League of New Zealand to make arrangements for Mr McNab's address on Tuesday, June Ist, on "Universal Military Training." was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening. There were present:— Mr R. Brown (chairman), Drs. Cowie, Cook, R. V. Hosking. Messrs J. Prentice, J. Yarr, Sergt.-Major Collier, M. C. O'Connell, J. R. Sykes, E. G. Eton, G. Hyde, W. J. Winslade, W. H. Jackson, J. C. Ewington, and H. M. Boddington, hon. secretary. A committee consisting of those j present and Messrs W. J. Welch, A. ; P. Whatman. J. D. Cruickshank, W. j G. Beard, H. G. Williams, C. A. > Pownali, J. Hunter, R. J. King, D. i J. Cameron, A. J. Cameron, A. C. Major, D. McGregor, sem\, D. Caselberg, W. C. Buchanan, M.P., and Hon. A. W. Hogg, and the Min- j isters of religion, and the officers of the local Volunteers Corps was appointed to make arrangements in connection with Mr McNab's address. Apologies for absence were received from the Mayor (Mr P. L Boilings), Rev. A. T. Thompson, Rev. H. Watson, Capcain H. C. L. Robinson, Lieut. C. H. Haslam, Messrs N. C. Marshall, John Hunter, R. J. King. Mr H. M. Boddington was appointed hon. secretary. It was decided that the committee should iheet to make final arrangements for the address on Wednesday evening next, at 8 p.m.
