REFORMS IN TURKEY.
X^HRIgTtANS. AND THE ARMY. Received CONSTANTINOPLE, May 17., Mahmud Pasha and Shevket Pasha, have informed the oecumenical patriarch that one-fourth of the Ottoman Army will henceforth be composed of Christians. The best policy would be to accept .the services of these volunteers without awaiting Parliament's adoption of the law of enlistment for non-Mos-lems. They also state that Christian recruits will also be accepted for the police and gendarmes. LONDON, May 17. The Constantinople correspondent of "The Times" reports that tee reforms besides quieting the Armenian and Bulgarian communities will minimise the danger of attacks upon Christians.
