EIRE AT INVERCARGILL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. INVERCARGILL, May .15. A fire occurred at 2 o'clock this morning at the promises of J. T. Peters, watchmaker and jeweller, Dee street. The premises were totally gutted, and the stock is practically a total loss. A splendid pres sure of water enabled the brigade to save the premises of Broad, Small j and Co., hardware merchants, and TTndrill's drap3ry establishment, on either Hide. Smoke damaged the stock of the first named to the extent of £SO, and of the last named tojjthe extent of £IOO. Peters' stock was insured for £SSO in the New Zealand office, and £550 in the Victoria. Tne building, owned by Broad. Small and Co., was insured for £SOO in the South British office. The damage is estimated at £4OO
