A football match was played at Carswell's Junction, on Saturday last between teams from Carswell's and Tenui, writes our Tenui correspondent. The 'former club could only put twelve men in the field against lenui's fifteen. A hard fought game resulted in a draw, neither side scoring. The visiting team were subsequently entertained at Mr Greenbank's Carswell's Hotel at dinner. One player, named Alf. Ronalds, of Carswell, had the misfortune to badly sprain his knee. The most conspicuous players were Greenbank, Hyde and Fielding for Carswell's and Jim Collerton and Percy Aithan for Tenui. -Mr Mackellar. of Masterton, was referee and gave every satisfaction.

Great interest is being centred in the nine a-side tournament to be played at Tenui, this afternoon, writes our Tenui correspondent, between Whareama and Mungapakeha. The following are the teams: — Wareama Full-back, Possum; threequarters, Daniell and B. Carter; five-eighth, B, Stillborn (captain); half-back. M. Sharpe; wings, J; Wingate and M. Concerning the play of O'Leary, the ex-Masterton threequarter, in the Ponsonby-Grafton match, at Auckland, on Saturday last, the football critic of the Auckland "Star" says : "On his play last Saturday, O'Leary is to me the brightest threequarter appearing in Northern football since the days of Asher, Riley and George Smith. He is quick, cool clever, and unselfish, and on Saturday gave promise of no end of good work in the future."
