CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter.) Thursday. The South Wairarapa Hospital Trustees have arranged to meet a committee from the local United Friendly Societies' Council at their next meeting, to discuss a proposal from the Friendly Societies to donate a bed to the Hospital for the use of its members. The vestry of St.' Mark's Ch'irch met last evening in the vicarage, the Rev. R. Young presiding. It was decided to instruct Messrs T. G. Underhill and Sons to proceed with the installation of a hot water service in the parsonage. Messrs J. J. Mead, T. E. Maunsell and W. Tucker were appointed a sab-committee to revise the pews and report at next meeting. Mr A. King was complimented upon the capable manner in which he had supervised the work of asphalting the footpaths around the church.
The bachelor* of Parkvale and Ahiaruhe held a very enjoyable dance at Parkvale last evening, when there was a large attendance. The floor was in capital order, and excellent music was provided lay Miss Berrill (piano) and Mr R. Crawley (comet). Messrs T. Teal, J. Snell, D. Hsrrick, and D. Jensen were M'sC, and extras were played by Mrs VV. J. Bannin, Misses Skeet, Maguire, and McMaster (2), and dui-ing the interval Mr Cross contributed a song. The municipal election will take place here to-morrow, and from all accounts there is likely to be keen contests.
