LONG ISLAND TRAGEDY.
Received May 13, 9.10 a.m. NEW YORK, May 12. -Captain Hains, who shot WiHiam Annis at Long Island in August last, has been convicted of manslaughter in the first degree. Thornton Hains, chargedwith be ing an accessory, was acquitted. The tragedy occurred on August 17th last. Hains, with his brother Thornton, waited on the landing stage of the Yacht Club until Annis landed, then the captan shot Annis six times mortally, while his brother, with a revolver, kept the crowd back. Hains declared that Annis ruined his young wife.
