"■jVTOTICE is hereby given that, in -*-* pursuance of the above Act and the Regulations made thereunder, every person and company within the meaning of the said act, having derived income during the year ending 31st March, 1909, from any source or by any means which is made the subject of taxation under the said Act, is hereby required to duly make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, Returns of Such Income on or before the Ist June, 1909. And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings, at Wellington. P. TO THE CROWN TENANTS. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— I am a candidate for the vacancy on the Land Board. len years' strenuous residence in the backblocks is my leading qualification. Such an experience tends to imkindle the warmest sympathy for the people on the land, and if you elect me as your representative it will be my constant endeavour to assist and encourage those with the hardest row to hoe, and to extend all the available discretionary power compatible with a sound administration of the Land Laws to those most in need of assistance, and to faithfully serve your best interests. My nomination affords an opportunity to support a bona fide settler and one of yourselves. Touching t&e personnel of the Land Board as a supporter of democratic principles, I am strongly of opinion that ail members except the Chief Commisioner should be elected by the Crown tenants, and those that pay me the extreme compliment of supporting my candidature will be endorsing that opinion.
