By Telegraph—Press Association. Received May 8, 7.45 p.m. SYDNEY, May 8. The "Kangaroos" (Australian professional team) defeated the pick of New South Wales by 43 points to 10. A football match was played at Carterton, on Saturday last, between the Carterton and Gladstone Seniors, and resulted in a win for the former by 7 points to 5. Groube scored a try for Carterton, and Thompson kicked a penalty goal, while Momo scored a try for Gladstone, which S. Mason conveted. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union was held at Carteton, on Saturday night last. There were present—Messrs A .B. Charters, E. McKenzie, H. McKenzie, R. McKenzie, B. Chapman, C. Reid, A. Booth, W. Hart and J. M. Nicholls. A donation of two guineas to the Union's funds was received from Mr Halley, and a
vote of thanks was passed to him. Messrs A. B. Charters, E. McKenzie and J. M. Nicholls were appointed a classification committee. It was decided to support the South Auckland Rugby Union in their application to be allowed to form themselves into an independent Union. Carterton Old Boys defeated the Carterton School team on Saturday last by 7 points to nil. Mr A.N. Burns was referee. A match was played on the Showgrounds, on Saturday last, between Masterton 111. and Red Star 111. The latter (with 13 players) were defeated by 7 points to 6. Hanley scored a trv, and Fisher kicked a goal for the winners, and M. Welch scored two tries for the losers. Mr S. Kingdon was referee.
