Lyttelton, who was Colonial Secretary in Mr Balfour's Ministry, referred at a Primrose League meeting in London to §Mr Asquith's invitation for an Imperial Conference on Defence. The speaker said he hoped th 3 colonial warships would be made part of a complete system, and be united under one supreme control in war time, thus rendering the Empire's sea power irresistible. The General Staff of the British War Office is circulating a translation of the Kaiser's orders for the training of the German Army.

Redmond that the Commonwealth proposals for an Australian fleet were being considered. CONSTRUCTION OF BALLOONS AND AEROPLANES. AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE APPOINTED. Received May 6, 9.15 p.m. LONDON. May 6. The Government has appointed a committee, under Lord Kayleigh, to advise'the Admiralty and the War Office upon the construction of balloons and aeroplanes with funds for experiments.
