[ (From Our Resident Reporter). Wednesday. The road to Makuri is stated to be in a better condition at. the present time than it has been for many years, and the ford over the Makuri river known as Tylee's ford, and which has been in a bad state for some considerable time, is being reconstructed and will be finished in a few days. Court Pahiatua, A.0.F., met in the Foresters' Hall , last evening, Bro. Darky, P.C. R., presiding. Two new members "'ere proposed. It was decided to accept the challenge of the Druids to play a football match on Wednesday week. May 14th, arid it was also decided to invite the Druids to a social after the match. The other day a large box at the back of the Makuri Post Office caught fire, and luckily was seen by a passer-by before much damage was <lone, the back of the Post Office building being charred a little. Much to the gratification of the farmers in this district stock of all descriptions are showing a general -rise in price. WOODLANDS HUNT CLUB. The third run of the Woodlands Hun Club was held this afternoon at " 'Oete," Kohunui. Mr S. McTavish laid the drag, and about thirty followed the hounds, who were in charge of the Huntsman, Mr H. Russell, on Maringa. Amongst those who took part in the "meet" were the following :—The Master, Mr Rodney, on Kurapapa, whip, Mr W. Halliday, on John Paul, Miss Russell on (Daisy)Uell, Miss Bolton (Nancy), Miss B. Bolton (May), Miss M. Bolton (Moa), Miss Marshall (Madcap), E. Brown (Black Angel), L. Russell (Otus), •N. Avery (Commodore), Hunt (Corroboree), G. Main (Molly Fisher), J. McTavish* (Lord Ullin). S. Whyte (Nomad), W. Naylor (Wild Oats), W. Singleton (Rapid), C. Milne (Jet de More), T. Milson Prof. Hepburn (Bolinda), G. Ranby (All Gold). At the conclusion of the run about .seventy persons were invited to Mr S. Bolton's residence, where afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Bolton and family. Mr Rodney, on behalf cf the visitors, thanked Mr and Mrs Botlon and family for their ' hospitality. He called for three cheers for Mr and Mrs Bolton, which were lustily given.
