HOPE-JACOBS MEMORIAL.
[FULL AMOUNT SUBSCRIBED. It is gratifying to learn that as a result of the anpcal made to the citizens of Masterton for subscriptions to commemorate the heroism and self-sacrifice displayed by the stewardesses in connection with the illfated Penguin, the amount required has t been subscribed. The original conditions of the fund were that if the sum of £4O was raised the Bed would be installed in the Masterton Hospital, and failing this the amount collected would be devoted to the purpose of placing the bed in a Wellington institution. Considering the limited time allowed for the collection of the amount deemed adequate, £4O, the generous response to the appeals-effects credit on the citizens of Masterton.
