FOOTBALL.
SEVEN-ASIDE The seven-aside tournament arranged by the Masterton Friendly Societies' Council was played on th 3 Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon. The attendance was only fair, the gate takings reaching £8 7s. Messrs C. J. Mackellar and D. K. Logan acted as referaes, and Mr T. Hoar as timekeeper. The results were as follow: — FIRST ROUND. FORESTERS v. MASTERTON DRUIDS. The Foresters defeated the Masterton Druids by 6 points to nil. The winners' score was made up of a force down (1 point) and a try scored by J. Wing, which was converted by L. Boyd. The teams were as follow: —Foresters.—N. Boyd, L. Boyd, J. Wing, Morton, L. Attwood, J. Butcher, and H. Wilton. JDruids. — O. Wellington, C. Cole, W. Bannister, A. Pauling, P. Boyle, W. Blinkhorne, Bowen. Mr D. K. Logan held the whistle. HIBERNIAN v. RECriABITES. The Rechabites (J. Hursey, A, Miller, J. Tanner, L. Johns, R. Milne, G. Lawrence, O. Wellington) defeated the Hibernians (J. Hanley, J. Waters, P. Barry, S. O'Regan, J. Connor, J. Carmine, and J. Frendegast) by 12 points to 3. Tries wera scored by Johns (2), Hursey and Miller for the winners and by J. Hanley for the losers. Mr C. J. Mackellar was referee.
CARTERTON DRUIDS v. ODDFELLOWS. This was the most interesting match of the tournament, and at the call of time the score was even, but the teams had Jo play en till one side scored again. Carterton being the first to do so, won the match. Carterton was represented by McKenzie (3), Cadwallader, Crawley, Roydhouse, and V. Fairbrothsr, and the losers by A. Thompson, H. M. Clarke, T. Fielding, Wickens, Baker, K. Welch, and Langley. For Carterton, N. McKenzie and Cadwallader scored a try each, and for the Oddfellows Baker scored. Mr D. K. Logan held the whistle. SECOND ROUND. DRUIDS v. RECHABITES. The Masterton Druids beat the Rechabites by 6 points to 3. The latter had drawn a bye, and had to lay another match. K. Welch scored two tries for the winning team, and R. Milne one for the Rechabites. CARTERTON v. FORESTERS. Carterton had an easy victory by 18 points to nil. Tries were scored by Cadwallader (2) and N. McKenzie, two being converted by H. McKenzie. FINAL. CARTERTON DRUIDS v. RECHABITES. This was another one sided eame. Carterton winning easily by 24 points to nil. Cadwallader, Crawley, Fairbrother, N. McKenzie (2) and J. McKenzie scored tries, an.l Roydhouse, H. McKenzie, and Fairbrother converted one each.
A meeting of the Reel Star Junior and Third-class teams was helcl in the Y.M.G.A. rooms on Sslurday evening .'ast. Mr Hursey presided over a good attendance of members. The officers for the various teams wore elected as follows: Juniors. — Captain, J. Wing; vice-eaptain, G. Ross; st lection committee, Messrs J. Yvimr, B. Ivoson, and A. Gokkr.
