Mr George Fannin, late chief clerk in the Lands Office, Invercargill, isdead. The deceased held a record of 32 years' Government service. Heonly retired last March, and arrived at Ta.ihape last Saturday to settle with his second son. At the Parkvale School on Friday afternoon, writes our Carterton correspondent, Miss L. L nitb, who has been transferred to the Te Ore Ore School, was presented with a gold pendant set with a large sapphire, a gold brooch set with rubies and diamonds, and a silver-mounted cut glass smelling salts bottle. Mr J. Davidson, headmaster, made the presentation, and the recipient feelingly responded. Miss G. Armstrong, from Nireaha, will replace Miss Smith atPark vale. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital on Saturday morning of Mrs Stockley Jones, after a shore and painful illness. The deceased, who was a by profession, had been residing in Masterton. for the last eighteen months. She leavesjhree children, a boy and two girls, to mourn her decease. The " late Mrs Jones was formerly in the employ of the W.F.C.A. dressmaking, department, and was latterly established in business own her on account.. The funeral will leave the Masterton. Hospital for the Masterton Cemetery at 10.30 this morning.
