TMr Alfred Hosking, who is to be retired under the superannuation scheme, has been for 25 years headmaster of the Mount Eden School, Auckland. •Consequent in tne promotion of Mr Harrington to Nelson, Mr C. B. Hawk, officer in charge of telegraphs •at Auckland, will be transferred to Wellington. Mr N. D. Cochrane, mining en•ginter, Dunedin, has accepted the 'position of mining adviser to the -Government of Fiji. He expects to 'be absent from, the Dominion for 'about twelve months.

At Pine Grove, Greytown, on Wednesday last, Mr Norman Ross, late •of the Greytown Branch of the Bank >of New Zealand, but now of Kaikoura, was married to Miss E. M. ■Robinson, eldest daugnter of the late Mr H. Robinson, of Greytown. Judge Seth-Smith, president of the "Native Appellate Court (which is to be abolished) will retire on superannuation at the end of the month. The retiring judge was first appointed in 1888. He held office till 1894, when he retired, but was reappointed in 1904. In 1906 he was •appointed to his present position. At Carterton, yesterday, Mr W. R. York, of Te Whaiau, eldest son -of Mr W. F. York, of Motueka, Nelson, was married to Miss Cassie Fensham, eldest daughter of Mr J. Fensham, of Carterton. Misses G. Fensham and P. Fensham were "bridesmaids. Mr R. York was best -man, and Mr H. York groomsman. The marriage of Miss Ada Flora Joy, third daughter nf Mr G. L. Joy, of Miriam street. Masterton, to Mr Jame3 Kitchener, was celebrated at the residence of Mr Alex. Donald, Essex street, yesterday afternoon, the Rev. A. Hodge officiating. The bridesmaids were Miss Kate Kitchener, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Jessie Joy and Miss Minnie Joy, sister and niece, respectively, of the bride. Mr J. Joy attended as best man, the bride being given away by her father. Mr and Mrs Kitchener were the recipients of a large number of valuable and useful presents.
