THE MAYOR'S CHALLENGE.

To the Editor. Sir,—l greatly regret that the Mayor did not keep his promise to debate Borough affairs with me (vide his telegram published in your •columns on the 19th inst). Last sight's meeting was merely a farce. The chairman, who has evidently not the faintest idea of how a debate '' should be conducted, roost j unfairly to allow me to finish my speech. To what remarks I did make the Mayor did nut reply. Could anything have been more farcical! I 1 regret that the true position of Borough affairs was not placed before ' the audience, as should have been "done. —I am, etc., JOHN HUNTER.
