ROUGH WEATHER.
FLOODS IN SOUTH WAIRARAPA. By Telegraph—Press Association. CARTERTON, April 23. The Waiohine river is in high flood, and has broken over the stop-bank on the south side of the bridge, and flooded the properties of Messrs Meenken, C. Williams and H. Feast on the south side and Mr McGuinness and the Maori pa on the north. The road is all under water and is damaged, but not seriously. The Maungatarere river has broken over its bank and covered the Swamp road to a depth of from four to five feet. Mr F. T. Playle, farmer, when driving along the Swamp road was nearly washed away. The Kaipatangata stream at Dalefield has flooded the whole district, hundreds of acres of landj are submerged. No stock has been lost, and very little damage is done. The water is now receding, though rain is still falling in the Lower Valley. All the settlers mastered their stock in safety on sand dunes and high places.
