H, Asquith, informed the House that the statement regarding Britain's readiness for war in Home waters, recently presented to him by Lord Charles Beresford. was about to be considered by a Committee of the Imperial Defence. The majority of the newspapers welcome the an in-i quiry. Mr Asquith informed Mr Lonsdale in the House of Commons that Mr Churchill's letter to his constituents at Dundee in which he criticised the two-Power standard as absurd,and was not written after consultation with his colleagues. The Government had not abandoned the view that the two-Power standard was a workable one. The statement was received with Opposition cheers.
