TURF NOTES (By "Zetland"). Good racing was witnessed at Trentham oh Wednesday, but the fact of only one favourite scoring showed that backers were not highly successful in their principal selections. Exmoor, who has struck form after some months of training, won the Hurdles comfortably from the ever consistent Whatakura. Kairoma, who filled third position, will do better before the end of the season. Maiora was made favourite for the Waiwetu Handicap, but failed to run prominently, and Toa Tuhi won somewhat easily from Martyrium, and San Fernando. The appearance of Miss Mischief among the contestants for the Silverstream Handicap was a surprise to the public, who had been led to believe that the filly would not be at the meeting on account of a mishap to the Mararoa at Lyttelton. However, the Treadmill filly was on the scene alright, and won ridiculously easy by six lengths from the moderate Vinco. Then came the principal race, the Thompson Handicap, which brought out a splendid field of eighteen starters. Master Soult, LO3 Angelos and Fhtaway were better backed than the Auckland Easter Handicap winner, Aborigine, despite the fact that the Merriwee colt was ridden by Arthur Olliyer, who is known to be one of the smartest at getting out from the barrier quickly. On this occa-

sion he immediately rushed to the iront, and the issue was never in doubt. He did not have to stall off a single challenge, and won comfortablv bv two lengths. Hundreds'of backers are now wondering why they missed the substantial dividend paid out, because on recent form Aborigine was certainly worthy of being made first favourite. A lot o* money was lost on five or six candidates which exhibited very ordinary form in the race. An error of judgment appears to have been made by run ning Flitaway in the Thompson Handicap, of one mile instead of in the Railway, of six furlo::gs, as in the latter she was especially well treated, and was capable of winning comfortably. After excutirg a sensational gallop on Tuesday Bobrikoff was installed a firm favourite for the Challenge Stakes. Mr W. E. Bidwill's jhampion colt Provocation was quickest away from the starter, and as Bobrikoff could not make up the lee-way, the Wuirarapa entrant received the judge's verdict. Provocation thus further established the right to be considered the best two-year-old of the season, and will probably not be seen out again until next season, when he should add to his winning list as a three-year-old. Mon Ami followed up her Feilding win by scoring from Advantage and Wimmera in the Railway Handicap. Having struck form the Soult-Satan-ella mare should increase her stake earnings. Wairarapa again showed up in the Tinakori Handicap, Hilarian winning in fine style from the warm favourite Nyland. By San Fran —Lillian, Hilarian is a well bred one, and being a half brother to those good performers Ruamahanga and Volley, is sure to be favourite with the sportsmen of this district. A successful future is predicted for Hialrian, who is a fine big powerful horse, gifted with 'a good deal of pace. Later on he should come out as a stayer,

TWO SIGNALS. There are two serious signals of kidney lis. The first signal comes from the back with numerous , aches and pains. The second signal comes in the kidney secretions, the urine is thin and pale, or too highly coloured and showing '• brick-dust like" deposit. Urination is infrequent, too frequent, or exce°sive. You should hepd these danger signals before chronic complications set in diabetes, dropsy, Bright's Disease. Take Doan's Backache Kidney Pills in time and the cure is simple. Mr Edwin Street, late of Hall Street, Masterton, now living outside the town, says:—" I suffered from kidney trouble for years, and used Doan's Backache Kidney Pills for this ailment, and from my experience I strongly recommend this wonderful remedy, After I used them I felt much better; a pain in the h_ack which had tortured me, disappeared, aiid my secretions were regulated. They are really good pills, and I am very glad to speak these few words, as I consider that Doan's Backache Kidney Pills cannot be too' wel known. I hope sufferers will take advan tage of my experience. I got Doan's Backache Kidney Pills at Eton's Phar macy." It used to be considered that only urinary and bladder troubles were to be raced to the kidneys, but now modern science proves that nearly all diseases have theiy origin in the disorder of these important organs. Then look after your kidneys and keep them strong and well by taking the great kidney and bladder remedy—Doan's Backac e Kidney Pills.
