A BANK SWINDLE.

A SUSPECT ARRESTED. Received April 21, 8.45 a.m. MADRID, April 20. A man, believed to be Windell, has been arrested in Madrid in connection with the Loudon and South Western Bank robbery in September last. The thief, while at the Harlesden branch of the London and Southwestern Bank, overheard a secret code word intimating the transfer thence to the Catford branch of the bank or £750 belonging to a customer. An account at Catford was forthwith opened by the supposed customer, who withdrew £290, and departed in an automobile. The swindler repeated the same operation at seven other branches of the bank, each of which had received a similar notice. The total amount secured by the thief was £2,320.
