FOOTBALL.
A match will be-played on the Showgrounds, this afternoon, between the Red Star and Masterton Seniors. Play will commence at 2.30 o'clock. The following will represent Masterton :—Harding, D&rvill, Minett, Iggulden, Young, Thompson, Lang- I don, Chapman, Thynne, Gray, Kyle, Jamieson, Ericksen, King, Mackellar. The Red Star team .will be selected from the following:—Williams, Duggan, K. Welch, Clarke, Baker, N. Chamberlain,* Wing, Ball, McLaren, R. McKenzie, R. Welch, McLachlan, Easthope, Moana Paretene, Collett, Corbett, D. Rosp, B. Chamberlain, Hursey. Judging from present indications there will be plenty of competition in Saturday football this season. It is not expected, however that the football will be of a brilliant order, as the various senior team 9 will b« made up largely of young players. In the Senior Championship the teams competing will be Carterton, Red Star, Masterton, Greytown, Gladstone, Lower Valley. In the Junior Championship the following teams will probably compete:—Red Star, Dalefield, Carterton, Maryborough, Greytown, Te Ore Ore, Lower Valley. The Third-class . Chmpionship will probably see the following teams competing:—Red Star, Masterton, Dalefield, Te Ore Ore, and Carterton. The t6am to represent Red Star 111. against Masterton 111., on the Showgrounds, this afternoon, will be picked from the following-Bil-lington, Treen, Dixon, Harris, O'Dowd, Galley, Messenger, Yates, Miller, Ibbetson, Riddle, Welch (i!), Mason, Pictoh, Boyd, Smith, De Lisle (2), and W. Hoar.
