A STEAMER WRECKED.
AN EXCITING EXPERIENCE. Received April 12, 10.5 p.m. LONDON, April 12. The steamer Mahratta grounded in the Goodwin Sands. Lifeboats took the passengers safely ashore. While the boatmen were saving rubber, tea and rice, the vessel broke her back, and the men were rescued with difficulty. The engineers worked up to their waists in water until the danger of an explosion passed.
