TRAINING AT ELLERSLIE. £By Telegraph —Press Association. AUCKLAND, April. 6. The weather was bleak for training operations at Ellerslie this morning. Practically all the work was done on the grass, which is in good order. Master Soult gave First Gun twelve lengths' start and finished almost on terms, the seven furlongs being covered in Imin 30sec. It was a good gallop. C'nanteuse, with a light-weight, covered a similar distance in lmin 30 2-ssec. Downfall, Merriwa, and Hyperion ( were in that order at the end of five furlongs, run in lmin 4 4-ssec\ Tetrazzini, having the best of the start, beat Tuku Tuku and Elysian over four furlongs in 50 2,-ssec.- Gladsmuir and Bully were together. Freerata was beaten off at the <jnd of a round on the sand in 2min 2s e. First Mate went seven furlongs in lmin 35 l-ssec. Aborigine pleased better than Moriarty in a six furlong gallop, done in lmin 20 3-5 sec, Auldearn, alone, covering a similar distance in lmin 20sec. Maori King was going easier than' Wimmera at the end of jive furlongs, run in lmin 5 3-ssec. Sir Antrim went seven furlongs in lmin 34sec. After breakfast, Dardanus beat Rarara and Explosive over six furlongs in lmin 18 l-ssec. Tamainupo was better than Lady Finances and Aimwell over five furlongs,' in lmin ssec, Kahama doing a similar distance in the same time. Ben Johnson and Te Arai were sent, sound the hurdles. There was nothing between the pair at the finish. Paritutu jumped a couple of hurdles, moving very scratchily.

By Telegraph—Press Association. ' CHRISTCHURCH, April 6. At Riccarton, this morning, the plough was in capital oriler. Most of the work was done on it, the weather being ideal. Flitaway beat j Husbandman over a mile, run in Imin _43sec. Broadsword covered six furlongs from almost a standing start in lmin 17sec. Glenculloch ran a mile in lmin 44£ sec, finishing strong. Sir Tristram did six furlongs with Woodhey, in lmin 19sec, and Orsino the same distance in lmin 18 4-ssec. Stronghold and Eurus covered a mile together in lmin 51see, Buccleuch and Musterer spurting five furlongs in lmin 4sec. Whistlecraft defeated Sharpshooter by eight lengths over six furlongs, in lmin 17 l-ssee. Lady Disdain and Petrovna did the same distance in the same time, the latter getting the worst of it. The best gallop of the morning was put up'by Bollin and Diamond Star, who went seven furlongs in lmin 30£ sec, finishing abreast. After breakfast, excellent work was done on the grass, the morning's work being improved upon in many instances, All Giins galloping a mile and a quarter in 2min 12sec, Contender six furlongs in lmin 33sec, and Sister Anne five furlongs in lmin ssej. Valdimar was better than Passion by a length over six furlongs, in lmin 18sec. Fasnakyle and Taskmaster did the same distance in lmin 19sec, and Cymbriform six furlongs in lmin 19sec (uni paced). Others were given light j tasks. I Tumut and Osiris arrived this | morning.
