EVADING DUTIES. SUGAR REFINING COMPANY IN TROUBLE. Received April 4, 4.30 p.m. NEW YORK, April 3. The Collector of Customs in New York has ordered the American Sugar Refining Company to pay 1,239,000 dollars for duties evaded between 1901 and 1907, by means of falsa weights. The Government is claiming a further million dollars on imports prior to 1901.
