HUPE CONFESSES. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., April 2. Edgar Hupe was charged to-day with setting fire to the Royal Hotel. I The charge only included the last outbreak. Evidence was given by George Searle, the licensee, Mrs Searle, the foreman of the Brigade, boardsrs, a?jd others. J Detective Quirk produced a written statement by the accused, admitting having started the.last outbreak by throwing a lighted match on the bedding. He denied knowledge of the other outbreaks, and pleaded guilty. Accused was committed to Wellington for sentence.
