WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.

| The Wellington Land Board met on Thursday last. There were presents—Mr James Mackenzie (Commissioner of Crown Lands), and Messrs A. Reese, J. Dawson, „ and C. J. Canton. Sub-leases were approved as follow Nukumaru survey district, 599 acres, from/*. Kodwell to G. P. and L. Turner; Makotuku, 17 acres from M. J. Kerr to S. Hatfield; Mangahao, 48 acres from R. Gregory to j. 11. Brenner and G. H, Gibson (if eligible). With reference to the proposed sub-lease of part 11 of section 8, block 19, Mangahao, 16 acres 3 roods 8 perches, from Mr J Croft to Mr P. Lawson, which was conditionally approved on February 28th, it was decided to defer granting the lease in the meantime owing to Mr Lawson not having complied with the residential conditions on hib present holding. Transfers were approved as follow : —Sections 85, 87 and 90, Makuri Village Settlement, 10 acres, H. Webb to W. Cruden; part 1 of section 23, block 6, Makuri, 3 roods 32 perches, E. W. Pool to D. D. Riddell; section 61, block 10, Kaitawa, 13 acres 3 roods, H. Campbell to H. Thomas (left in the hands of the Commissioner); sections 3 and 4, block 11, Ao h anga, 390 acres, Dalgety and Co. to G. H. Leach; section 1, block 5, Pukeokahu, 640 acres, E. Doole to M. H. K., F. D. K., and M. G. Hammond; section 17, j block 1, Mangaane, 200 acres, W. j Bayliss to J. H. Martin; sections 16 | to 19, Rakaunui Village Settlement, j 42 M. Hughes to T. Mc- | Mullen; section 42, block 18, Mangahao, 19 acre? 3 roods 27 perches, H. Baker to E. M. Crow; section 6a, block 2, Mt. Cerberus, 98 acres, A. Jones to T. A. Yeoman; section 4, block 10, Aohanga, 200 acres, H. E. Burling to P. C. Sorensen; section 42, block 6, Tararua, 200 acres, W. Bell to A. H. Braithwaite; sections 2 and 4, block 11. Mikimiki, 502 acres, from A. Collie and T, W . Drew to J. Tanner; section 13, block 6, Aohanga, 305 acres, H. A. Burling to C. H. Dickens. The Crown Lands Ranger appraised the value of the fee simple of section 8, block 9, Huangarua (I'awaha), 89 acres 3 roods 35 perches, at £lB per acre, a capital price of £1,820 8s 9d. The original price was £2l 2s Bd.-~ Lessees to be notified accordingly. The Commissioner was authorised to deal with the foreshore lands on the Wairarapa Lake in the way of re offering, reserving or offering the land to adjoining owners. C. E. Wildbore was granted three months' extension of time in which to pay the arrears of rent on his section at Nireaha.

The ranger was instructed to report on tbeiapplication from Miss E. D. Baucke, lessee of section 53, block 1, Mangaone, that she be allowed exemption from residential conditions at present. The Commissioner reported that a road had been properly taken through section 6a, block 11, Mangahao.—lt was decided that the title should be amended accordingly. " With regard to sections 16 and 29, blocks 9 and 5, Huangarua, Tav>aha Settlement, which it had been decided to add to the holding of Mr F. E. Tilyard and Mrs Pilbrow, the annual rental was fixed at £fil 6a Bd, the allotment also being weighted with £l6 16s, value, of improvements made by the late tenant. Application was made by Messrs F. C. Rhodes and A. Cimpson to have portions of section 21, block 7, Makuri, adjoining land subdivided, allotted without, competition. The Commissioner was given power to act if effect can be given to the original subdivisional proposals. Titles were grante d as follows Section 904, block 14, Rewa, 260 acres, G. Moore, junr., Sections 8, 11a, and lib, block 6, Mount Cerberus, 100 acres, G. Stewart. M. Ruiss applied to transfer section 5, block 9, Ruahine, 200 acres, to R. E. Hornblow.—Approved, subject to residential conditions being complied with, and full particulars being supplied. The Commissioner reported that the thirds distributed to local bodies during the year amounted to £12,794, while there was still a sum of £9,000 available for which no proposals were in.
