THE ROYAL WELSH MALE CHOIR.
Regarding the Royal Welsh Male Choir, which will open a two-nights* season in Masterton this evening, the Sydney "Daily Telegraph" says: —"lf applause counts for anything; these hypercritical days, the Royal Welsh Male Choir is destined to become the most popular of any ! musical organisation that has ever yet toured this country. Large and fashionable audiences have nightly insisted upon the repetition of every number on programmes that could 1 by any possibility be redemahded. Judging by the rapture with which the choir have been greeted, one might easily- imagine oneself present at a production of the brightest and best opera which has ever graced the stage." The opening programme tonight will embrace the choral numj bers, "Welsh National Anthem," "Song to the Northmen," "Cwsg" ("Sleep" unaccompanied), "Italian Salad," "Strike the Lyre,? "The Tyrol," and "Soldiers' Chorus"; quartette, "Shamrock"; : trio, "Peace to the Heroes": duet, "Flow Gently, Deva"; solos, "Veteran," "Deathless Army," "Wings to Heaven," "Big Ben," and part songs.
