OLD AGE PENSIONS.

Mr T. E. Taylor will undoubtedly find a large measure ol support in Parliament for his proposal to abolish the iniquitous tax upon the old age pensioner which is provided by the limitation of the value of his home to £lso,<says the Cfaristchurch "Star." There are very few old age pensioners who are in the occupation of palaces, or who have more home accommodation than is requisite for their own wants, and it is an obvious injustice if those who have fallen upon evil ' times, hut havs managed to save their homes from the wreck, are to be taxed for their thriftiness. The Prime Minister is no doubt just as anxious as Mr Taylor is to remedy the existing injustice, and if the finances will permit there, is little doubt that he will give effect to the prayer of the petition that is being prepared.
