ANNUAL MEETING. The annual statutory meeting of the Wairarapa District Hospital Board waiihciii Vf.-iin;rii-«v fore-; nor) its the Masterton County Council Chambers. Mr E. G. Eton presided, and the j other delegates present were:— Messrs W. Moore, W. Fisher, A. J. Speedy, W. Perry, J. Mar'tin,; H. i Cornelius', T. Moss, W. J: Welch, T. Quirk. F. Kummer, R. F. Beetham, J. Colquhoun, Wilkinson, J. C. Ewington and D. Crewe. Messrs J. C. Boddington, A. L. Webster, G. | Haniley Urewe, Secretaries of the Masterton, South Wairarapa and j Pahiatua Hospitals, respectively, were also present. The first matter considered was the escimates of expenditure for the Masterton Hospital during the year, as submitted by the Trustees. The following amounts were passed unaltered: —Salaries and wages, £1,000; rations, £700; medicine, £150; fuel and lighting, £285; furnishing, £200; instruments and surgery, £200; laun(dry, £25; wines and spirits, £2O; insurance, £22; postages and telegrams, £5; telephones, £lo;,funerals, £2l; commission, £55; incidentals, £SO; water and drainage, £2O; Trustees' travelling expenses, £lO. Grounds £l5O were reduced to £IOO, and it Was decided to ask the Trustees to reconsider the estimate of £45 for minting and advertising. The South Wairarapa estimates were passed with the exception of an item of new buildings, £3,500. It was decided, on the motion of Mr W. Fisher, that £2,000 should be granted out of the estimates for the current year, and the balance, £1,500, be included, in next year's estimates, provided the whole of the cost of building did not exceed £3,500, and the condemnation of the present Hospital he certified to by, the Inspector-General. It was also decided that the plans and specifications be approved by the Grey town Trustees and a committee of the District Hospital, consisting of the j Chairrriai, Mr E. G. Eton, and Messrs Welch and Ewington. The Pahiatua Estimates were sanctioned with the exception of new buildings, £350, which were not entertained. The matter of separating Wellington Hospital district for purposes of charitable aid was discussed, and a representative was appointed to represent the District Hospital at the conference of Local Bodies. The estimates for the upkeep of the infectious diseases hospitals fur the coming year were passed. Levies for maintenance of the District Hospital and the Infectious Diseases Hospital were struck.
