HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The following cablegram has been received by the Department of industries and C< ramercd from the High Commissioner in London:— The mutton market .is depressed, with scarcely any demand. Supplies are increasing. Canterbury, which is offering in noderate quantities, is quotafat 33d; North Island 31; Australian 2Ad. The lamb market is very dull, the weather lately having been unfavour--1 able to the sale of lamb. This seasons Canterbury lamb is quoted at s|d: otter than Canterbury, 4Jd; | Australian, 3Jd. | The large supply of Home killed ! mutton affects the market. I The beef market is steady. New ! Zealand beef is being pushed for sale. I Fore-quarters are quoted at 3Jd; ! hind-quarters in moderate supply 2£d. j The butter market is quiet, with ' small business doing, some holders ; forcing sales. The demand is chiefly j for high gride unsalted butter. ! Choicest New Zealand brands are ! quoted at 106s; Danish, 115s; Australian. 103s; Siberian, 103; ArgenI tine, 105s. The cheese market remains firm. 'Coloured makes are quoted at 645; white makes, 60s. The hemp market closes weak, with a lower tendency in prices. Current quotations—Good fair grade on spot, £23 10s; fair grade on spot, £2l 153; fair current Manila on spot, £23; April June shipments good fair grade, £23 ss; fair grade. £2l 10s; fair current Manila, £22. Last week's Manila output amounted to 23,000 bales. The wool market is firm with an upward tendency. Bradford tops are quoted—36's low rrossbreds, 11 Jd; 40's low crossbreds, Is o£d; 44's medium crossbreds, Is ljcl; 50's half- . bieds, lssd; 56's quarterbreds, Is J 7d; 60's merinos, 2s. The following shipments arrived from River Plate during the moKth of February:—
