THE MAYORAL ELECTION.
(To the Editor). Sj r< With your permission I shoud like to comment upon what I saw in your issue of this morning, namely, it is stated that there will be several candidates for the Mayoral
chair, but it is generally considered that the present Mayor (Mr D. Crewe), now that he has decided to contest the Mayoralty, will be returned and an interesting election is expected. Now, Sir, for my part, the election which resulted in Mr Crewe being returned two 3ears ago as our Mayor, to finish and carry out the then present water supply, etc., in this town, I thought was nothing but right and just. Now, I think he has carried out that important work with credit to himself and to the ratepayers of this place, but other matters have been done of which I do not approve, and I think that Mr Crewe should be allowed to take a rest for a time to allow of some other person taking a hand in the ruling of this town. If Mr Crewe wishes for further explanation on this matter, I will willingly give bim it through your columns, as we are sicK and tired of being his blind followers.—l am. etc., JOSEPH JESSOP. Pahiatua, March 16th.
