HOCKEY.
A meeting of the Glengarry and Garry Owen Ladies' Hockey Clubs will be held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms, this evening, at 7.30 o'clock for the purpose of forming a new Club. All the members of the above Clubs and intending members are invited to attend. There is every prospect of hockey booming in the Wairarapa this season. A new team is to be formed in Masterton, and in all probability four or five teams will compete for the Major Cup. Junior matches will also he instituted, and it is stated that St. Matthew's, Knox, W.F.C.A., and the Carterton Clubs will enter for the competition. Keen interest is also being taken in ladies hockey contests, and the contest for the Hughes Shield will be, it is considered, a keen one. Two Masterton Clubs—Glengarry and Garry Owen —, intend to amalgamate, and a strong club should result. The Huia, High School, Carterton, Greytown, and Featherston Clubs will also be among ! the competitors in the ladies' competion. i An effort is also to be made to inaugurate Junior ladies' matches.
