FIRE BRIGADES DEMONSTRADION.
MASTERTON SUCCESSES. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 14. Tfte annual demonstration of the United Fire Brigade Association was concluded yesterday in dull weather, in the presence of between 3,000 and 4,000 spectators. As on the previous day the events were run off promptly with the result that the demonstration finished in good time. The following are the final points for the various shields:— Champion Shield.—Timaru. High-pressure Shield. —Masterton. Speights' Shield (for manual events). —Napier. The concluding day's competitions resulted as follows: One-man ladder. —Superintendent T. Jenkins, Masterton, 1, after a dead heat with the Auckland City representative; Dunedin City 3, and Ashburton 4, after a dead heat between six teams for third place. Rescue events (two men). —Napier, 23 4-ssec, 1; Auckland City. 25 l-ssec, 2, after a dead heat with Dunedin City; Onehunga. 16 l-ssec, 4, after a dead heat with Waihi. Alarm and disabled hose (five men). —Timaru, 58 2-ssec, 1; Dannevirke, 59 2-ssec, 2; Dunedin City, 60sec, 3; Napier, 60 3-ssec, 4, after a dead heat with Spit. « An old firemen's two-men coupling • event Was placed on the programme, and won by Roberts and MacDermott, 26 3-ssec, with Moulden and Fenton, 33 l-ssec, 2; and Beveridge and Lepine, 34sec, 3.
