WELLINGTON WOOL SALE.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., reoort as follows on their wool sale held at Wellington:—At the fifth sale of the season about 1,500 bales were offered to a good attendance of buyers for this period of the season. There was scarcely any good wool offering, the catalogues being made up of late shown wools. Bidding was keen, and prices ruled, considering ■ conditions, at about a farthing advance on the February ssle. There was a good demand for scouring lots which sold at full rats. Lambs wool, of which there was only a poor 5> quality, offering, was somewhat easier. We quote:—Halfbreds, BJd •to 9id; late crossbreds, 6d to 7d; inferior crossbreds, sdtos£d; lambs, 5d to 7|d; bellies and pieces, 4d to *Sd; locks, 2d to 3|d. The New Zealand Loan and Mer cantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows; —We held our No. 5 or March supplementary wool sale on Thursday afternoon, March 11th, j ■when we submitted a catalogue of 350 bales. There wa3 anj unsually large attendance of buyers for so late in the season, and competition, •was brisk and general. Good iambs r wool did not bring such high prices i as at the February sale owing prob- j ably to the absence yesterday of one of the buyers for France, who, at the previous sale, seemed to consider I prices a secondary matter so long a3 | the lot suited his requirements. Pricese were dearer yesterday by fd to fd than at the February series, while crossoreas and halfbreds advanced about an avearge of id all round. Under the hammer we sold 232 bales. Our range of prices was: —Merino. 7d to 72d; h-dfbml. to72d; medium to gocd ciossb*ed, •6d to 6£d; inferior ciossbred, 4ll<i to •ssd; good lamhs, 6d to 7Ad; inferior and seedy lan-bs, 4£d to s|d; bellies and Diece?, 3d to 4£d; locks, l|-l to 3d.
