The executive committee have been wondng most energetically to ensure that patrons of the carnival will enjoy not only the races themselves, but creature comforts which go to make such gatherings popular. Afternoon tea is to be provided at a charge of 6d per head in a specially erected marquee, at which also cold drinks will be obtainable. The providing of high backed seats will mean that ladies in particular will faee the races in comfort. The Club, being a purely amateur body, desirous only of' popularising and improving to the utmost the valuable art of swimming, is not making a specific charge at the gates, and a collection only will be taken up to defray the expenses of the carnival. So far the club has received extremely generous support from the public, and they anticipate that to-morrow will show still further how well recognised the fact is that swimming is pre-eminently a sport of utility, and deserving of universal encouragement. The entries for the various events have, bee-i most gratifying, and as tne competitors are all capable swimmers, good finishes should eventuate.
