ASSISTED IMMIGRATION.

By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 9. The Dunedin Painters' Union last evening passed a resolution expressing the opinion that all assisted immigration should cease at once except in respect to the wives and children of persons who sailed prior to Ist June, 1909, and have settled in the Dominion. Further, that the Government be urged to take some steps as will ensure the workers of the Old Country and Australia being advised that the supply of workers in the Dominion is greatly in excess of the demand.
