FRENCH CUSTOMS TARIFF.
PROPOSED REVISION. FRENCH MERCHANTS IN LONDON ALARMED. Received February 24, 11 p.m. LONDON, February 24. The French Ambassador in England, in a letter to M. Pichon, French Minister of, Foreign Affairs, declared that the French merchants in London were greatly alarmed at the mere announcement that the French Customs tariff was to be revised, and emphasised a suggestion made that the British Government would impose heavy duties on French products, especially French wines. M. Pichon read this letter before the Customs Committee yesterday.
