FIRES.
LARGE HOUSE DESTROYED. By Telegraph-Press Association. GISBORNE, February 23. A twelve-roomei house, used as an adjunct to Gladstone House bcarding'houae, and owned by Mr J.. Townlay, andoccupied by Mr C. Ferguson, was* destroyed by fire at 4.15 p.m. yester--day. The building was insured for £4OO in the Alliance office, and the contents for £2OO in the Guardian office. The house had been used for many years as a doctor's residence. The boarders lost heavily. DESTRUCTION OF A SAWMILL. NELSON, February 23. Mr T. A. Price's sawmill at Belgrove was destroyed by fire., Only an engine was saved. The loss is heavy. There are at present no details regarding insurance.
