PUTAKI IN TROUBLE AGAIN.

TOWED INTO DUNEDIN. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 22. At a late hour last night the Manuka arrived, off the Heads with another steamer in tow, and accompanied by the Waipori, which had been sent in search of the Manuka, whose non-arrival up to time had caused some anxiety. The towed vessel turned out to be the Putaki. The Putaki was a little this side of Akaroa when two of her coupling bolts broke. It was then about halfpast four o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Had no more broken it would have been possible to have continued the voyage without assistance, but there was danger that the otners, with the extra strain that would be cast on them, would also break ; consequently, when the Manuka came along, between six and seven o'clock, the Putaki was taken in tow and brought down to the Heads at seven or eight knots, arriving about 9.30 p.m. She is now discharging her cargo of coal from Weetport at Dunedin.
