TE ORANGA HOME.
SUMMARY DISMISSAL OF A TEACHER. By Telegraph-Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, February 13. The Hon. G. Fowlds, in an interview in connection with the alleged summary dismissal of a teacher at Te Oranga Home, stated that he hr.d given the matter very full and careful consideration) and took the only course that seemed open to him in the best interests of the institution. He did not desire to make any complaint about Miss Harrison's work, or ability as a teacher, but what was required at Te"Oranga was something more than a teacher. The Minister indicated that it was the absence of harmonious relations between Miss Harrison and the other members of the staff that had necessitated the Department's action. The Minister considered that Miss Harrison had been justly dealt with, and that sufficient; reason had been given for dispensing with her services.
