REPRESSIVE MEASURES DEMANDED. Beceived February 12, 9 a.m. CALCUTTA. February 11. The Alipur murder Is considered to be a token of a campaign of assassination of officials. Indian papers demand that severe measures should be,, taken by the authorities. THE ANARCHIST MOVEMENT. Received February 12, 11.20 p.m. CALCUTTA, February 12. The crime committed by a Bengali student named Base, who killed at Alipur, Asutosh Biswas, the Public Prosecutor, who was engaged in the trial of some anarchists, and the throwing of a bomb at the train near Bariackpur upon the same line as Lord Minto travelled when going for a few days' shooting m Assam, are believed to emanate from an anarchist organisation, distinc from that with which the prisoners now on trial at Alipur are connected. The authorities at Calcutta recognise that the anarchist movement is of larger dimensions than is imagined and incessant vigilance is necessary. The officials strongly warn the Home authorities that the Indian anarchist leaders are likely to show an increasing tendency to reside in London or Paris. The train aimed at was that wherein Mr Hume, the Public Prosecutor, was travelling, and not Lord Minto's, which was specially guarded when leaving Calcutta. In any case the outrage is interpreted as a parting warn in r , to the Viceroy.
