O.i Christmas Eve the death oc-tor-ad of Mr James Farmer, forme rl/ a member of the New Zealajd Legislative Council. He passed awa ■ at Brownhills, St. Andrews, Fif i (Scotland). Mr Fanner was in his 87th year. Ac the Presbyterian Manse yesterday afternoon, Mr George Alexander Pawson, yomgest son of Mrs Dawson, of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and now of Masterton, was married to Miss Harriet Brown, eldest daughter of Mr Peter Brown, of Wellingtop. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. T. Thompson. The bridegroom was presented by his fellow employees at i;he W.F.C.A. with a handsome clock and lea-set as a w dning gift. The presentation was mideby Mr Pryor, manager of the drapery department. Mr and Mrs G. G. Johnson, who lift yesterday for Marton, were entrtained ly the com dined Pos: and T heraph staffs at Masterton on Wednesday evening »t a social, evening in Arcadia Tea. Rooms. Daring the evening th& Postmaster (Mr S. Inder) presented Mr Johnson with an oxidised silver inkstand, and Mrs Johnson with a silvermounted perfume bottle, as a token of esteem from the local Post an 1 Telegraph staff. Both presentations were suitably acknowledged. The evening was spent in honouring toasts and in music and songs. The catering was in thp capable hands of Miss Finn is. and eulogistic references were nude of the excellence of the repast provided.
