SELLING OF WINE IN NOLICENSE DISTRICTS.

AN AUCKLAND OPINION. By Telegraph—PresH Association. AUCKLAND, February 9. In connection with the Wellington message to the effect that the Government's legal adviser has expressed the opinion that the selling of wine within a No-License district appears to be illegal the statement is discounted by an Auckland viticulturalist. Seen to-day this gentleman said that under the original Act the New Zealand wine industry was not affected at all. There was, he declared, a clause in that Act providing that \ such wine can be made and sold in a No-License area. He was certain on the point, having taken three legal opinions on it. The clause in question had never been repealed in any waj. This fact seemed to have been overlooked by the people generally, including the Government's legal adviser. In any casa he said it would not affect the growers if the manufacture an'j sale of wine was prohibited in sud\ districts; the bulk of the grapes grown would always ba sold as table grapes, which paid better anyhow, if the wine industry was shut down therefore all the growers had to do was to grow table grapes, and with the otheis make unfermented wine for sala to temperance people.
