RECHABITE LODGE.

A meeting cf the Masterton Tent was held in the evening, when there was a large attendance of members and also ail the district representatives. Bro. F. W. Temple, C.R., occupied the chair, but gave precedence to the District Chief Ruler (Bro. Calder). One card date was initialed.

The meeting was then thrown open to the members' friends, and an enjoyable time spent. , Bro. Threadwell was presented (on behalf of the local 'lent) by Bro. Calder with a P.C.R. sash, he having introduced the most members (14) in die Tent during the last six months. The next in position had introduced eleven. Bro. Calder made an appropriate speech, and also referred to the honour he felt in presiding over such a large gathering of Rcchabites—the largest he had yet seen. He also referred in eulogistic terms to the progress made by the Masterton Tent in its membership and its work for temperance. Bro. Fathers, District Juvenile Superintendent, also paid a compliment to the local Tent, and in an excellent speech showed the origin of the Order and how the early Rechabites of Biblical history had kept the pledge handed'to them by their forefathers.

Bro. G. Wesney (Invercargill), in a few remarks, congratulated the members on the carrying of NoLicense in Masterton. He referred to the working of No-License in Invercargill, and claimed it to b? a great success. It was necessary for the Mssterton people not to be content with No-License, for drink would still find its way into the town. The next step necessary was to initiate a pledge-taking crusade, and thus induce people not to bring liquor into the district. A pianoforte solo was given by Miss Tait. Refreshments were dispersed, which were much appreciated, arid the gatheing dispersed at 9.45.
