WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Messrs Levin an 1 Co. repiu-t as follows:--We held our cionlhly sale of wool, skins, hides unci tallow, yesterday. There was the usual attendance of buyers and competition was brisk at full price in accordance with the higher rate now established, which of course showed a very marked advance when compared wirh our last sale held in December. Calfskins were in good demand and sold at a record price, as high as Sgd being obtained for the best. Sheepskins sold up to 7d for fine quality and at 6d for medium grades. We quote:—Wool: Crossbred wool Gd to 62-d. inferior crossbred 5d to 6d, dead wool 4d to sid, pieces to 4id, locks 2d to 3d. Skins: line crossbred 6d to 7d, crossbreds 5d to 52d, dead skins 4d to s,|d, hoggets 4ki 10 5 kl, short wools 4d to 4kl, dry pelts 3d to 4d. Hides: Ox and cow, best to 5Jd, medium 4kl to sd, inferior 3d to 4d. Calfskins: Best up to sgd, medium (3d to 7d, inferior 4d to s£d. Tallow: Shipping parcels 21s to 225, tins 18s to 19s, sacks 10s to 12s 6d. Our next sale will be held on March 10th. The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., and Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows: Our monthly sale of,wool, skins and hides took place yesterday, when we offered 20 bales and 200 bags of wool, 1,000 sheepskins, 200 hides and a quantity of tallow. We are pleased to report that there was an excellent attendance of buyers and competition throughout was exceptionally brisk. We are also pleased to report that our first line of calfskins realised the excellent price of B|d per lb, which is the highest price obtained at any local hide sale. This is the result of a little attention given by some of our clients to the skins before sending them in for sale, and we would still urge vendors to pay more attention to their consignments of hides. We quote:—Wool: Fleece s|d to 6£d, lambs 4Jd to 6d, pieces 2|d to 3Jd, locks 2&d to 2|d, dead s|d, crutchings 3£d. Skins: Crossbred fine 6Jd, medium 5Jd to 5Jd, dead 2|d, to 4fd, seedy 3|d, pelts 2kl to 3fd, lambs 3£d to sd, shorts 3fd. Hides: Cow, good 4|d to 4gd, slippy 3gd to 43d, cut 3|d, ox 4gd, yearling 4gd, calf, good B|d, medium B£d, calf, slippy 4Jd.
