A COOL BURGLAR.
MAKES HIMSELF AT HOME. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, January 25. The Rev. Harold Purchas, of St. John's Parish, went away for a holiday after Christmas, leaving the Vicarage in Latimer Square locked up. About January 15th a burglar broke a pane of glass in a door and turned the key and took possession of the Vicarage. He made himself quite at home, sleeping in one of the beds, using the cooking utensils and acting generally as if he were the tenant. When he left the burglar took a quantity of wearing apparel, a large clock, and about £ZO worth of miscellaneous jewellery and sundries. On Saturday evening Detectives Ward and Gibson had their attention drawn to the man, and they at once arrested him and charged him with the burglary. Accused appeared at the Magistrate'* Court to-day, and was remanded till Friday next.
