CORRESPONDENCE.
WOODVILLE TO MASTEKTON. (To the Editor). Sir, —I happened to be a passenger from Woodville to Masterton on Saturday night. Bacchus was highly exhalted in a certain smoking carriage. The real, actor was a young felbw who came in at Pahiatua boasting of ?Sow he smashed a bottle of whislty felt indeed he was "full up" of Wmgky,, and very pugnacious. Round and round he went trying to get a passenger to fight, and having failed he squared up opposite a car-i,-?£fgo window and sent his fist with a through it. I think it was Don vho could not resist going for a "windmill," but then it was in motion, and no doubt motion seemed to mark something that could be killed. The smashing of glass in no way satisfied this warrior, and at Hukanui he disappeared. A t Eketahuna there was an expedition to stock the cellar, and about eight young felloW3 returned with beer galore, and a bottle was smashed on the carriage staging outside the dnor. It is the biggest th'* 1 ? of the kind I can remember, ancl a passenger by the train from the south tells me there was plenty of drinking on it. Of course the guard would have to be turned into "Guard turn out" to deal with things of this kind. Were the police to be seen at Pahiatua, Hukanui, or Eketahuna, developments might have been expected. —I am, etc., "UP GUARDS AND AT 'EM."
